Please make it a priority to check your child’s grades regularly to ensure they remain on track academically. In addition, encourage your child to review their class notes each night to strengthen their understanding of the content.

Effective note-taking is an essential academic skill. It allows students to process and retain information, organize their thoughts, and create a resource they can revisit when preparing for assessments. Just as important is the practice of consistently reviewing and studying those notes, as this helps deepen comprehension and improves long-term retention.

The first quarter is flying by, and it will officially end on Friday, October 10. Parents and guardians, you are vital partners in your child’s academic success. Please make it a priority to check your child’s grades regularly to ensure they remain on track academically. In addition, encourage your child to review their class notes nightly to strengthen their understanding of the content.

Recently, some teachers administered quizzes where students were allowed to use their notes. Unfortunately, several students struggled because their notes were incomplete or disorganized. Effective note-taking is an essential academic skill. It helps students process and retain information, organize their thoughts, and create a resource they can revisit when preparing for assessments. Equally important is the practice of reviewing and studying those notes, as consistent review deepens comprehension and improves long-term retention.

Regardless of your child’s current academic standing, please remain in consistent communication with their teachers. By working together, parents and teachers can provide the support and encouragement necessary for every student to thrive.

As we prepare for an awesome week of learning, we want to share a few important reminders to help support student success:

Daily Attendance: Please ensure that your child attends school every day. Frequent absences or early check-outs can negatively impact academic progress and disrupt learning. Consistent attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student achievement.

Class Notes and Homework: Class notes are an important resource for learning and should be reviewed daily to strengthen understanding. Please check your child’s notes regularly. Remember, homework is not always sent home as worksheets or practice problems. Reviewing and studying class notes is also considered homework and must be taken seriously. This consistent practice builds strong study habits and improves retention.

Monitoring Grades: Please check your child’s grades frequently to stay informed about their academic progress. Doing so allows you to communicate effectively with teachers, provide support at home, and partner with us in ensuring your child’s success.

Athletics:

Volleyball: Monday, September 15, at B.T. Washington; Wednesday, September 17, at Pillans.

Football: Thursday, September 18, at LeFlore versus B.T. Washington.
